The Australian Association of Yoga in Daily Life Inc. is a not-for-profit incorporated Association and non-government organisation (NGO) in roster Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council and Department of Public Relations of the United Nations. The Association was established in Australia 1991 and its activities are aimed to serve humankind by fostering health, world peace, humanitarian aid, protection of the environment and all creatures, as well as tolerance, respect and freedom amongst religions, cultures and nations.
On a local level the Australian Association of Yoga in Daily Life provides a community service with volunteer instructors conducting yoga and meditation classes for all areas of the public.
On a national level Australian Association of Yoga in Daily Life, frequently collaborates with other organisations to raise community awareness and funds for humanitarian initiatives. Yoga in Daily Life also supports the rich multi-cultural diversity of Australia by frequently hosting cultural events to foster harmony and understanding between people of all nations. Interfaith dialogues are also an important part of the Association’s work.
On an international level the Australian Association of Yoga in Daily Life is a recognised Non-Government Organisation (NGO) in roster Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Yoga in Daily Life is actively engaged in supporting a number of humanitarian initiatives abroad, with particular focus on water and child education. Yoga in Daily Life holds the view that: Every child has an equal right to education. No child with a wish to study should be denied that wish due to their family’s financial or community status. The Association’s members contributed on many levels to establish a primary and secondary school for 1,200 children in rural Rajasthan, helping to address the issues of child education amongst the world’s poorest communities.
First established in Sydney in 1991, today the Australian Association of Yoga in Daily Life offers all areas of the community a positive foundation for holistic health through its centres in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sunshine Coast. Additional classes are offered in Adelaide and other regional areas.
Yoga in Daily Life is actively associated with other like-minded humanitarian, environmental and community organisations such as, the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Australia, Environmental Protection Agency, Sustainable Living Festival, Oxfam Community Aid Abroad, World Society for the Protection of Animals, the Earth Charter, Cruelty Free Living Festival and the Australian Natural Health & Vegetarian Society (to list just a few). Yoga in Daily Life collaborates with these and other groups throughout the south-pacific region, and is involved in Festivals & Expos as a representative of the larger Yoga Community.
With the help of volunteers, core-workers and yoga teachers dedicated to spreading the benefits of Yoga and Meditation, the Yoga in Daily Life centres throughout Australia are reputed as highly efficient & well-organised workplaces, with an emphasis on ‘team-work’. The true spirit of Yoga!
