Print E-mail

ANUPASANA is a “small resolve” that barely costs any time or expenditure, but with regular practice brings invaluable benefits. It promotes spiritual development, develops willpower and self-confidence, purifies our “inner field” and protects against internal and external disturbances. Practice something that you would like to do that is of benefit to yourself and another every day. It doesn’t need to be some great undertaking, begin with little steps.

Technique: Sit on the floor with the back and legs straight. Place the right foot on top of the left thigh as close to the hip as possible.  The sole of the foot faces up.  If this leg position is difficult, the foot can be placed on the floor along the inside of the thigh close to the body.  Hold the toes of the right foot with the left hand.  With slight pressure from your right hand, move the knee up and down 10 times.  Return to the starting position and repeat the exercise with the left leg.

Release Back Tension

This yoga asana releases tension from back and neck muscles and helps to improve flexibility of the spine. Technique: Lay on the back with knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Take the arms out to the side at shoulder height and face the palms up. Inhale deeply, then whilst exhaling slowly take both knees to the right, towards the floor. At the same time turn the head towards the left shoulder. Inhaling, use the abdominal muscles to help return knees and head to the centre. Repeat to the opposite side. Practice 3 times to each side.

Yoga in Daily Life in Australia

Print E-mail
The not-for-profit, Australian Association of Yoga in Daily Life was established in Sydney in 1991 and grew organically throughout Australia. Yoga in Daily Life in Australia runs independently from international Yoga in Daily Life organisations. The practice of Yoga is a practice of science – science of body, mind, consciousness and soul. The origin of Yoga lies in India, but its teachings are 100% universal and can be applied to all aspects of our life, hence the term “Yoga in Daily Life”.
