Sri Swami Madhavananda World Peace Summits
The Sri Madhavananda World Peace Council was established by His Holiness Swamiji in commemorative honour of his beloved master, His Holiness Dharmsamrat Paramhans Swami Madhavananda Ji. The aim of the Sri Madhavananda World Peace Council is to support international forums for dialogue between individuals, cultures and religions on the topics of peace, ethics, spirituality, education, health, youth and environmental sustainability.

World Peace Forum Sydney 2003These forums take the shape of world peace summits, inter-cultural conferences, interfaith dialogues, peace vigils and prayers, environment festivals, health seminars and youth symposiums.

A feature event of the Sri Madhavananda World Peace Council is the “World Peace Summit”. The Summit is an annual event that journeys around the world to raise global awareness, as well as spiritual, social and political resolve to secure lasting world peace and to demonstrate tolerance, respect and understanding by acknowledging ‘unity in diversity’.

Held in a different country each year, the World Peace Summit is hosted by one of the Yoga in Daily Life Societies in the world. These are not-for-profit organisations whose aims are to disseminate a culture of peace and spiritual development via the practice of yoga and meditation.

Speakers at the forums organised by the Sri Madhavananda World Peace Council, are highly respected international and local leaders from the spiritual, social, humanitarian, environmental, political and indigenous communities, gathered to acknowledge “unity in diversity” and to determine the necessary steps forward to ensure a peaceful and sustainable world for current and future generations. Delegates and participants attend the Council’s events from across the globe, from all professions and from all walks of life, with each person sharing a keen and mutual interest in how to support positive and lasting change that will benefit the world.

World Peace SummitThe moral values that support all the initiatives of the Sri Madhavananda World Peace Council are the poignant message of His Holiness Swami Madhavananda, “One in All and All in One…” and the timeless peace philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi, “Be the Change You Want to See”.

Significantly, the Sri Madhavananda World Peace Council actively supports the declarations of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals and the Earth Charter Initiative, as fundamental principles for creating a just, sustainable and peaceful global society.
