Meditation Can Strengthen Immune System Print E-mail

ImageResearch from University of Wisconsin shows a habit of meditation can strengthen immune function plus increase performance of electrical activity in the brain. It validates the mind-body connection of meditation. To monitor immune function, researchers measured antibodies in the blood that fight flu and other infections. In just 1-2 months, volunteer subjects in the study who meditated, had significantly higher levels of healthful antibodies than subjects who were non-meditators. Subjects who meditated for two months had significantly higher antibody levels than those meditating for just one month. The region of the brain said to be most activated by meditation is the left front area associated with positive emotions and anxiety reduction.  source:  Chicago Tribune
