Everything you need to know is held inside of you

Bandhas are energy locks that influence internal energy flow; interlocking and interconnecting internal systems and energy channels. There are 72,000 energy channels or Nadis in the body. Where several Nadis form a junction a wheel of energy is formed called a Chakra. There are 8 main Chakras located along the length of the spine to the top of the head. Mula Bandha stimulates the energy of the Muladhara Chakra, located at the base of the coccyx.

Yoga and Menopause PDF  | Print |
Written by Sevadevi

From my personal experience I found the symptoms of menopause were mild and manageable. I had been practicing Yoga regularly for 10 years before reaching this time of life and was fully established in the practise of asanas, pranayama and meditation. I understand that I was the fortunate one and there is real suffering for many women at this time including bouts of depression, hot flushes, fatigue, night sweats and anxiety. Your yoga practice during menopause is an empowering life tool for you to focus on the positive to manage and control menopausal symptoms. Think of your symptoms as a burning of old energies to make way for the new, a tapas, an inner purification process.

Practising Yoga During Menstruation PDF  | Print |
Written by Sevadevi
During menstruation a gentler practise of yoga is recommended. Menstrual pain is a sign of hormonal imbalances that occur at this time. Through Yoga we can take positive action to eliminate this pain. Hormonal imbalance is the cause of emotional vulnerability before and during menstruation. It is essential not to strain, do inverted postures or engage in strong practice but to take advantage of heightened awareness felt at this time for nurturing and healing. The following exercises may be beneficial during menstruation (from the book Yoga in Daily Life by Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda).

Producing 1 kg of beef generates as much greenhouse gas as driving a car non-stop for three hours Print E-mail
Japanese scientists used a range of data to calculate the environmental impact of a single purchase of beef. Taking into account all the processes involved, they said, four average sized steaks generated greenhouse gases with a warming potential equivalent to 80.25 lb of carbon dioxide. LONDON , ENGLAND , July 19, 2007: Producing 2.2 lb of beef generates as much greenhouse gas as driving a car non-stop for three hours, it was claimed yesterday. Japanese scientists used a range of data to calculate the environmental impact of a single purchase of beef. Taking into account all the processes involved, they said, four average sized steaks generated greenhouse gases with a warming potential equivalent to 80.25 lb of carbon dioxide. This also consumed 169 megajoules of energy. That means that 2. 2 lb of beef is responsible for greenhouse gas emissions which have the same effect as the carbon dioxide released by an ordinary car traveling at 50 miles per hour for 155 miles, a journey lasting three hours. The amount of energy consumed would light a 100-watt bulb for 20 days.

Most of the greenhouse gas emissions are in the form of methane released from the animals' digestive systems, New Scientist magazine reported. But more than two thirds of the energy used goes towards producing and transporting cattle feed, said the study, which was led by Akifumi Ogino from the National Institute of Livestock and Grassland Science in Tsukuba , Japan . Su Taylor, the press officer for the Vegetarian Society, told New Scientist: "Everybody is trying to come up with different ways to reduce carbon footprints, but one of the easiest things you can do is to stop eating meat."
