A few weeks ago I was looking for educational software for installing in our school computers. We have some good programs and one of my favorites was called Maths Circus from Greygum Software. I was looking on their site and wishing that we could get everything what they offer but.....it was out of our budget. The Maths Circus which we had originally was sent over by my Mum. Of course Mum is great and always supporting the school but this time I thought it isn't really appropriate to ask her to send over 1000 dollars worth of games software.

Belgian City of Ghent Goes Vegetarian One Day A Week

The UN says livestock is responsible for nearly one-fifth of global greenhouse gas emissions, hence Ghent's declaration of a weekly "veggie day".  Why is this being done? Jadan High School Kids Learn TV Animation!

For one week the UK team from Twin Vision was at Yoga in Daily Life's rural school in Jadan, India teaching the students how to do animation.It was an intense week. The students were involved in everything from planning the story, making the script, painting and constructing the background sets, making the plasticine models which were the characters in the story and then shooting and editing the animation. It was an absolutely wonderful week culminating in a function where the students showed their work to the rest of the school. Amazing stuff and thanks to the Twin Vision team for giving our students such a wonderful opportunity.

Kangaroos are now 'quasi extinct

"After investigating the state government data pertaining to kangaroo densities across the Kangaroo Management Zones, it has been found that kangaroos are now 'quasi extinct' across most of NSW, South Australia and Queensland. 'Quasi extinction' refers to population densities of less than five kangaroos per square kilometre and has been defined by the Murray Darling Report as 'the nominal value of kangaroo densities taken to be the effective loss of the species.'

Walk for Unity

Today the annual 9/11 Unity Walk took place in Washington D.C. bringing together people of the world's faiths and cultures to celebrate the unity of humanity in a world struggling with religious intolerance.  Organised by the Cornell Club of Washington, united religious leaders and people of diversity, to share in a spirited walk along Massachusetts Avenue, beginning at Washington Hebrew Congregation and concluding at the Gandhi Memorial Shrine.

Oldest man dies, aged either 138 or 129

Article from: Agence France-Presse from correspondents in Jodhpur.  AN Indian reported to be the world's oldest man has died in the western city of Jaipur. Habib Miyan, who died Monday, claimed to be 138 years old and was listed as the country's oldest man in India's Limca Book of Records.

It is with great sadness that we received the announcement of the Mahasamadhi/passing away of the most revered and beloved Pujya Swami Sahajananda on Monday, 10 December, 2007 at 5.30am.  Parmahans Swami Sahajanandaji lead a life of selfless service and is an inspiration  and wonderful example to all. The funeral will take place on Tuesday, 11 December 2007 and Swamiji’s sacred body will lie in state at Sivanandahram, 513 Mountbatten Drive, Reservoir Hills from 6am. The procession will leave Sivanandashram at 8:30am, proceeding to the Clare Estate Crematorium. Cremation will take place at 9:00am.

Satsang will be held from 5:30pm at Sivanandashram, Reservoir Hills on Monday, 10 December 2007. Chanting will continue throughout the night until 6:00am.

Producing 1 kg of beef generates as much greenhouse gas as driving a car non-stop for three hours

LONDON , ENGLAND , July 19, 2007: Japanese scientists used a range of data to calculate the environmental impact of a single purchase of beef. Taking into account all the processes involved, they said, four average sized steaks generated greenhouse gases with a warming potential equivalent to 80.25 lb of carbon dioxide.
