Yoga Teacher Training with Yoga in Daily Life

Commencing: Sydney, May 2008
Study Commitment: 2 years part time study

Course Overview

The Teacher Training program is a two year professional course conducted by the Australian Association of Yoga in Daily Life (AAYIDL). The Association has been conducting yoga teacher training in Australia for more than 15 years.  AAYIDL’s training programs are accredited with the International Fellowship of Yoga in Daily Life which establishes the International standards for all teachers of the YIDL system. The training program is also recognised by the Yoga Teachers Association of Australia. The course provides the opportunity to develop teaching skills and personal yoga practice according to the Yoga in Daily Life tradition and classic yoga philosophy.

There are two core strands of study that run through the program:

1.      Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Meditation
2.     Yoga Teaching Skills (including Asana, Pranayama, Relaxation & Meditation)

Throughout the course, these strands balance each other ensuring a solid foundation in theory, personal application and teaching practice. Thus Yoga in Daily Life teachers are not simply teachers of Asana, but are also able to offer support and inspiration to people wishing to pursue an interest in yoga lifestyle, philosophy and spirituality. Tuition and guidance are offered to course participants by a range of dedicated facilitators and teacher mentors. Our facilitators are amongst the most experienced Yoga in Daily Life teachers in Australia and are inspired to share their understanding, teaching experience and specialised training with all.

A Yogic Lifestyle

Yoga Teacher Training with Yoga in Daily Life (YIDL) is more than a course. It is the adoption of a yogic lifestyle in the living tradition and lineage of YIDL as articulated by our founder H.H. Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda (whom we affectionately call Swamiji).
These values are outlined below:
To live Yoga in Daily Life means to:
  • Give love and help for all beings
  • Respect life and protect nature and the environment
  • Sustain a peaceful state of mind

  • Have pure thoughts and positive lifestyle
  • Practise regular physical, mental and spiritual yoga techniques
  • Foster tolerance and understanding for all nations, cultures and religions

(Excerpt from Yoga in Daily Life - The System by H.H. Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda) In other words, YIDL Teacher Training is for everyone who loves Yoga and is sympathetic to the aims and goals of Yoga as outlined in “The System” developed by Swamiji.
