Course Outcomes, Format and Duration

 

Course Outcomes

On completion of the training program, Yoga in Daily Life teachers will be skilled to: 

1.        Teach asanas, pranayama, relaxation and meditation techniques in a safe and effective way according to the system of Yoga in Daily Life.  

2.       Represent the principles and practices of the YIDL System to Yoga students and the broader community through:

  • demonstrating and applying the yogic lifestyle principles in their life
  • inspiring others to follow these principles and practices
  • working effectively with others to maintain and promote the aims of YIDL
  • networking and liaising with community groups, organisations and individuals with an interest in promoting health, welfare and human development

3.       Provide advice on yogic lifestyle principles for maintenance and improvement of health. 

4.       Contribute to the planning, delivery, evaluation and review of YIDL programs such as workshops, meditation evenings, retreats and humanitarian projects. 

5.       Implement and maintain professional standards of: office procedures and record keeping; workplace health and safety procedures; duty of care; marketing and promotion of YIDL classes and programs; ethics and workplace conduct.   

 

Course Format & Duration

The duration of the Teacher Training course is approximately 2 years, comprising 8 Modules of learning.

Each module contains 9 weeks of training. This requires an average minimum time commitment of 16 hours per week during each module.

In addition to this there will be a period of 30-50 hours mentored teaching in skills-development, before final certification is issued.

The course outcomes listed above are met through the successful completion of the following course components.
1.       Weekly Training Sessions              (180 hours @ 2.5 x 9 per module)
2.      Weekly Yoga Class & Mentoring (96 hours @ 2 hours x 6 per module minimum)
3.      Regular Satsang Programs            (60 hours @ 2.5 hours x 3 per module)
4.      Service & Management Skills     (80 hours @ 10 hours per module)
5.      Daily Home Yoga Practice              (350+ hours @ 1-2 hours per day throughout course)
6.      Special Workshops & Retreats    (130 hours - weekend retreats, special workshops, first aid etc )
7.       Home Study Projects                        (216 hours @ 2.5-3.5 hours per week)
8.      Teaching Practice                              (30 hours minimum) 

Minimum hours in total over entire course is 1140 hours.
