Course Requirements

The teacher training program requires a dedicated commitment to the yoga way of life and study by:

  •  maintaining regular home yoga practice according to YIDL principles
  • maintaining YIDL lifestyle practices
  • receiving mantra initiation from Swamiji (if not received already)
  • participating in weekly training sessions
  • attending and observing regular yoga classes
  • participating in regular satsang programs
  • participating in retreats, workshops and special events
  • undertaking opportunities for teaching skills development
  • undertaking opportunities for service and management skills development

To support development as a yoga teacher throughout the entire period of the course, enrolled trainees are entitled to unlimited attendance at YIDL classes and courses in their city. You will need to have access to a computer and internet connection to complete the learning tasks for the course.

Exit Points

On completion of each module of study trainees will be issued with a Statement of Completion for the subjects covered. For participants who decide not to continue their teacher training studies, there is a natural exit point at the end of the second module of training.  Participants who find the study schedule too demanding may continue with a reduced load of training by maintaining the Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Meditation modules. To gain the teaching qualification participants can enrol in a future Yoga Teacher Training program to complete any remaining units of  Yoga Teaching Skills.
