Welcome to the Kensington Ashram of Yoga in Daily Life, the largest centre dedicated to Yoga in the Eastern Suburbs and a pure space dedicated to the science of Yoga.
We are located on Anzac Parade between the UNSW and Centennial Park, easily reached by public transport, with free parking available on local streets. Come and experience the community atmosphere and warm, caring environment that has evolved over several decades.
The Kensington Ashram and its predecessor the Randwick School of Yoga have been the training ground for many accomplished yoga teachers since 1986. True depth of experience and authentic traditions can help create for you a relaxing and fulfilling experience.
Now under new management, with a new team of volunteers, the Ashram reopens in 2012 offering a new range of sessions 7 days a week, which bring you the benefits of Yoga in its variety of traditional forms, including: Easy Yoga classes, Community Yoga (by donation), Yoga Nidra (relaxation), Spiritual Kirtan Singing, Vedic Mantra Chanting, Evening Arati (prayers), Courses and Special Events.
Each Yoga Session offered by YIDL Kensington Ashram will consist of the following elements:
1) Relaxation
2) Asanas: postures
3) Dynamic sequences: a set of Asanas performed in a flowing movement
4) Pranayam: Breathing Practice
5) Meditation: silent sitting or self inquiry meditation
Pregnant women: whilst we do not offer a specific Pre-natal Yoga class here at Kensington, you are most welcome to join the Easy Yoga classes after your first trimester, as the teacher is trained to be able to provide the necessary assistance and adaptations for you to feel relaxed and re-energised from the techniques above. (A full range of specific Pre- and Post-Natal and Mums & Bubs Yoga is available at our Annandale Ashram).
Tea and light refreshments are available after Spiritual Sessions and a small reference library of spiritual and philosophical books has been created which you are welcome to take your time reading with your fresh cup of tea.

The internationally renowned system of Yoga in Daily Life ® was designed by H.H. Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda to progressively prepare the body and mind, starting with simple exercises that gradually lead to the more advanced. The System is an authentic and holistic system of practices which includes physical exercises, breathing, relaxation and meditation.
